e Central African Republic (CAR) is a former French colony made up of sixteen prefectures. It's located in Central Africa. The country shares borders with Sudan, South Sudan, Cameroon, Chad, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The most significant provinces are Bangui, Ouham-Pendé, and Ouham. CAR is Africa's 21st largest country, covering a surface area of 622,984 square kilometers. In the north and southeast, low plateaus and scattered hills dominate the landscape. The climate is predominantly tropical, with the rainy season in the summer and the dry season in the winter. The total population is roughly 5.4 million. Bangui, the country's capital and most populous city, with 890,000 inhabitants. It connects the capital to other sites in Africa and France. Its culture is shaped by its French ancestry. 90% of the population is Christian. The official language remains French, but tribal dialects and languages continue to be widely spoken. The legal system is based on French civil law. President Faustin-Archange Touadera is chosen Chief of State, while Félix Moloua serves as Prime Minister. The official currency of the country is the Central African CFA franc (XAF), with the current exchange rate of XAF 594 to the USD. The country has an open economy, with a GDP of over $2.48 billion, ranking 47th in Africa. Its per capita income is $496. The GDP is largely made up of three key sectors: services, industry, and agriculture. Its key exports and GDP contributors are gold, diamonds, cotton, coffee, tobacco, and sugar. The Central African Republic has many tourism attractions and sites. It is famous for its diverse wildlife and safari tours across numerous national parks. Popular activities include gorilla trekking, boat safaris, and hunting. Some of the prominent locations are the capital, Bangui, with its cathedral. Also visit Zinga, Manova-Gounda St Floris Dzanga Ndoki National Park, and the Boali waterfalls. The Central African Republic has taken considerable steps to attract more tourists. The majority of the 110,000 annual tourism visitors come from neighboring African countries and Europe.
